KAREN HAWKES, Director of Healthy SV
Karen joined HealthySV in 2009 as the Youth Advocacy and Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator. Hawkes has a Bachelors degree in Kinsiology and Physical Education from the University of Maine and earned her Masters degree in Sports Leadership , Parks and Recreation from Virginia Commonwealth University n 2002. Following her graduate work, Hawkes worked in higher education and collegiate athletics at the University of Richmond before returning to Maine in 2004. Prior to joining HealthySV, Hawkes served as Director of the Maine Center for Sport and Coaching and the Sports Done Right program at the University of Maine. Hawkes' experience in community engagement, youth and leadership development, as well as her advocacy work for overall health and well-being of students across the state make her a natural fit for HealthySV.
Anne Johnston, Grants Assistant
Anne has worked for HealthySV and Sebasticook Valley Hospital since 2004. She volunteered in the Health Information Management department for four months, after which she joined the staff of the Education Department at Sebasticook Valley Hospital. As the Grants Assistant serving three grants; her duties include financial grant management, miscellaneous administrative work, and support of the leadership for customer and community partners. She enjoys the challenges of the varied grants and duties she carries through the ADEF(Ambulatory Diabetes Education and Follow Up Program). She is the hub of this office and department. Always smiling and ready to help in any way she can!
