· Food borne illness occurs in about 76 million Americans/year, of these 5,000 die.
· Signs & symptoms of food borne illness range from vomiting, nausea, fever, diarrhea, & dehydration lasting several hours to days to more severe such as paralysis and meningitis.
· Everyone can become ill from unsafe food but the very young, older adults, pregnant women, & the chronically ill are at greater risk.
