Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings

Eat Well Play Hard in Child Care Settings is a program that focuses on improving the nutrition and physical activity behaviors of pre-school aged children and their parents/caregivers by using educational strategies and skill building activities to promote healthy behavior change.

Eat Well Play Hard is an evidence-based program consisting of 10 lesson plans designed to encourage young children to eat more fruits and vegetables, choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products, increase the amount of time being physically active, and decrease time spent being inactive.

The 10 lessons are:
  • Food Mood
  • Vary Your Veggies
  • Flavorful Fruit
  • Dairylicious
  • Choose Your Fun
  • Cooking with Children
  • Smart Snacking
  • Fitness is Fun
  • Awesome Appetites
  • Growing Goodness

Lessons include activities, food preparation demonstrations, recipes, taste-testing, and take-home materials for parents to reinforce the messages at home.
