Pick a Better Snack

A nutrition education program for second and third grade children designed to teach them the skills to choose healthy snacks and be more physically active. Children have the opportunity to taste a variety of fruits, vegetables, and low-fat milk products in a kid-friendly environment. They will explore ways to have fun and be active with their friends and family and gain an understanding of why this is important to their health.

The goals of Pick a Better Snack are to provide information and strategies to help children and their families:
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables.
  • Be physically active every day.
  • Consume fat-free or low-fat milk or milk products every day.

Lessons are designed to be held once per month from October to May and include topics such as Vary Your Veggies, Focus on Fruits, and Milk Makers...and the foods they give us!.
